Let’s Raise a Glass and Have Some Toast

Just because we can’t eat gluten, doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy one of the greatest Insta-crazes ever: #ToastTuesday. Adding jelly, butter, or cream cheese to plain white toast was so 2015 (maybe even 2012); not to mention, it’s not exactly the most nutritious breakfast choice. Instead, opt for a breakfast that is a perfect combination of protein and complex carbohydrates to give your morning a boost of energy that will keep you going throughout the day! An easy way to do this while keeping the momentum of #ToastTuesday alive is by adding a spread that’s rich in protein to wholesome gluten-free bread and topping it with fresh fruit.

The options for healthy and aesthetically pleasing toast creations are endless! Here are some of my favorite combinations that I made using Udi’s GF Ancient Grain Millet-Chia Bread (I love this GF bread because it tastes like real bread and is a great source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals):

  • Plain or vanilla Greek yogurt (I used Chobani non-fat plain Greek yogurt but they have many delicious GF flavors to choose from), fresh strawberries, raw organic cacao nibs
    • {{For those of you who are unfamiliar with cacao nibs, get familiar! Cacao is naturally GF and filled with antioxidants and energy-boosting nutrients. Cacao nibs are crunchy and resemble dark chocolate but have a more bitter taste, which can be masked by using them as a topping for toast, GF oatmeal, yogurt, smoothies, and acai bowls.}}
  • All-natural chunky peanut butter, banana, honey
  • All-natural creamy almond butter, fresh blueberries, GF granola (I used Udi’s GF Vanilla Granola)
  • Plain or vanilla (or any flavor) Greek yogurt, fresh blackberries, honey

Spread, slice, sprinkle, and enjoy! For other variations, you can add nuts, seeds, or dried fruit to top off your toast. How will you celebrate #ToastTuesday?
